Liverpool Transfer News: Diomande Agrees to Join PSG

Liverpool’s post-title slump continues to cast a shadow over their summer rebuild after a difficult 2025/26 campaign.

Having lifted the Premier League trophy the season before and invested heavily in the transfer market, expectations were high.

However, the Reds ultimately finished fifth, with marquee arrivals such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz struggling to consistently adapt to life at Anfield.

The disappointing season led to the departure of Arne Slot, with Andoni Iraola stepping in as the new head coach. But the early stages of his tenure have already been disrupted by setbacks in the transfer market.

Diomande Agrees to Join PSG

According to The Athletic, Yan Diomande has decided that Paris Saint-Germain is his preferred destination if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer.

The 19-year-old winger, described as “incredible” by Rio Ferdinand, is believed to be attracted by PSG’s long-term project under Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos, and head coach Luis Enrique. The French champions are seen as offering the clearest path to sustained European success and future individual accolades.

Liverpool had shown serious intent, with reports suggesting they were prepared to table a package worth close to €100 million (£86.8m), but Leipzig have stood firm, holding out for closer to €130 million while also attempting to secure the teenager on improved terms.

Diomande, currently representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup, has enjoyed a breakout season in Germany, scoring 12 goals and registering nine assists in 33 league appearances as Leipzig secured Champions League qualification.

Capable of playing on either flank, the 19-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers—but for Liverpool, the pursuit now appears to have been halted by PSG’s growing influence in the race.
