Sky: Milan seriously considering bringing Liberali back for €3m thanks to clause

AC Milan will give thought to the idea of bringing Mattia Liberali back to the club, according to a report.

Liberali rather surprisingly left Milan on a permanent basis to join Catanzaro in the summer mercato. As part of the deal to let him leave, the Rossoneri reserved a resale clause that could be useful in the future, perhaps sooner than they thought.

The return of Liberali?

Sky report that it will be a crucial week for Liberali’s future. Como remains ahead in negotiations having targeted the playmaker, but ‘watch out for Milan’ who are set to make a surprising comeback attempt.

The player has a €6m release clause, with a 50% resale right in favour of the Rossoneri, who could therefore sign him for €3m or negotiate a new deal with Catanzaro, potentially adding another player on loan.

After initially struggling a bit in Serie B, he emerged as a standout playmaker in the second half of the season. In the end, he scored four goals and added four assists in the 2025-26 season as Catanzaro came close to promotion.

The teenager is currently playing at the U19 European Championship with Milan’s Emanuele Sala and Christian Comotto, and he scored a goal today in their 2-0 win.
