Newcastle United have released official statement on Tino Livramento injury situation

On 16 June 2026 Newcastle United released an official statement regarding Tino Livramento.

The club confirming that the England star had returned from the USA before the opening Three Lions match against Croatia: ‘Picked up a minor calf injury in training with the Three Lions on Sunday afternoon. A subsequent scan and medical assessment on Monday unfortunately confirmed he could play no further part in England’s tournament.’

Newcastle United adding: ‘Tino Livramento will continue his rehabilitation with the Magpies’ medical team.’

Chelsea central defender Trevoh Chalobah was called up in Tino Livramento’s place.

Thomas Tuchel explaining how the calf injury ensured the end of Livramento’s 2026 World Cup dream: “Tino was very disappointed and very sad, all of us were. It was a shock in training and when he stopped training he had the feeling that this could be an injury that costs him the tournament, he was unfortunately right. Tino has an injury of four or five weeks which is unfortunately too long to reintegrate him into the squad.”

Now two weeks later Newcastle United have given an update on the Tino Livramento situation.

An official NUFC statement on Tuesday 30 June 2026: ‘Newcastle United can confirm that Tino Livramento has successfully undergone a minor surgical procedure. The defender, who returned from World Cup duty with an injury, is expected to return during pre-season. Everyone at the club wishes Tino a smooth and speedy recovery.’

Best of luck to Tino who has had shocking luck with injuries, here’s hoping he gets a proper pre-season and is available when the season kicks off.
